2018 Magic Merlot produced by Boston Bay Wines is indebted to Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello ‘South Aussie with Cosi’ and the South
Australian public who responded in droves to the Australian Tourism Commission
#holidayherethisyear campaign; inspiring record visitor numbers through our cellar door
over the last 2 months here in Port Lincoln.

On the back of difficult COVID-19 restrictions on
food and wine service, reduced allowable guest numbers and increased administration and
organisational requirements, a flood of visitors was the light at the end of the COVID tunnel
for our team. Our Cellar Door staff were at the front line, experiencing the enthusiasm and
excitement of our visitors who tackled the 7 hour drive – many of whom had never travelled
to Port Lincoln, or their last trip was in the vicinity of 20 years ago.

As an expression of our gratitude for inspiring regional tourism and lifting the public’s
awareness of the incredible experiences available on the Eyre Peninsula, Boston Bay Wines
has labelled and donated a pallet of commemorative wine. The soon to be famous 2018
‘Magic Merlot’ will generate much needed funds to assist charitable enterprises and groups
from Eyre Peninsula to Cambodia. We have created a page on our website ‘Pee-no-more
Fundraiser’ where we will be able to keep our customers in touch with the overall
contribution this donation of wine has made to help those in need. Here in Port Lincoln, we
rely on the generous donation of time local service clubs make to hand pick our grapes. In
addition to making a monetary contribution for their time, we are looking forward to
broadening our efforts to develop fundraising partnerships with these clubs.
